Baku (獏 or 貘?) are Japanese supernatural beings that devour dreams and nightmares. They have a long history in Japanese folklore and art, and more recently have appeared in Japanese anime and manga (see examples cited below). MONSTER NUMBAH TWO. For those liking these pieces so far, when I am done they will be bound up into a book and I will be taking pre-orders for your own copy of said book. YAY. FOR YOUR VERY OWN.

The Desana is from the myths of the Amazonian Indians-He is the master of animals and fish, and appears as a dwarf covered in magical juices and plants. He can take the shape of a lizard, jaguar, squirrel or fish, and is seen as a protector/guardian of the forest. Here I obviously chose his jaguar form...with spouting plants and vines out of his head. YOU KNOW. Monster #8, getting into the home stretch here! (12 total)

He's LOOSELY inspired (key word) by Maori art/tattoo/etc. Very loosely. Just like as a passing thought, I did not look up specific tattoos, forms, etc. so please no flaming on that.
